Bedrock Granite is located in Shrewsbury, NJ and offers stone for residential and commercial applications to the public as well as architects and design-build contractors. The 2nd of 3 generations at Bedrock Granite, Joe Iacono took over the business that his father started in New York City. Joe’s daughter Alex and son Joe Jr. also work at the company.
Steven, designer and project manager at Abbey’s Kitchens, Baths & Interiors, appreciates their expertise in helping to choose the right stone for the right application. Bedrock always has a wide selection of granite, marble, quartzite, and other natural stones. In addition, they carry manufactured quartz and porcelain brands like Silestone, Polarstone and Cambria, among others.

A waterfall countertop is a popular trend for kitchen islands. Bedrock Granite is attuned to perfectly mitering the edges and matching the veining in the countertop to the veining on the side panels.
Says Bedrock’s owner Joe, “A trend right now is for white countertop stone that looks like Carrara marble, with its greyish veining. But Carrara is a soft stone that can stain and etches, or dulls, with age. Quartz is popular because it can be colored to look like Carrara (and other stone), but it is non-porous and stain resistant.”
Joe explains, “Quartz slabs are manufactured from natural quartz that is crushed, then mixed with resin and color. While not as hard a product as natural granite, the coloring is more uniform, and it can be shaped the same as a natural stone.”
Speaking of shaping, Bedrock Granite cuts, shapes, and finishes their stone projects using digital CNC machines.
When Joe’s father started in the business in 1989, cutting, shaping the edges, and finish sanding was done by hand. By using state of the art computer assisted machinery, cutting is now much more precise. More intricate edging and detail work can be done. And even the finishing process is more uniform. Bedrock also uses waterjet and diamond blade cutting for their work.
But the focus of Bedrock Granite’s family-owned business of which they are most proud is their customer service.
It is top notch, and they aim to keep it that way. A dedicated, full-time service technician, Teddy, a specialist in stonework repair and touch-up, works closely with project installers and customers. And they return phone calls. This is something Abbey’s really appreciates!
